Still around MikroTik router integration with external applications, this time we will try to do MikroTik configuration to send remote log activity. MikroTik itself has actually developed an application that is MTSyslog. Examples of the configuration we have also done in the previous article here . And now we will try how to use syslog on linux, in this article we use Ubuntu distro.
On linux (ubuntu) by default also has an application for monitoring log system. The application is rsyslog . But if there is no application we can install it first. To install can use linux terminal and type command line,
$ Sudo apt-get install rsyslog
Once installed we can configure both the MikroTik Router and the linux rsyslog application.
The first step, we will find the configuration on MikroTik first. In Mikrotik by default if we want to see the log system then we can enter on the menu ' Log'. And there will be displayed information about the activity or system process that is in the router. Well, here we will use rsyslog application from linux device to see all information from system router process.
For configuration on MikroTik router, we setting on System menu -> Logging-> Tab ' Actions ' -> Click Add [+] .

For configuration on MikroTik router, we setting on System menu -> Logging-> Tab ' Actions ' -> Click Add [+] .

In the Type parameter select the ' Remote ' option, then specify also on the Remote Address parameter with the IP Address of rsyslog linux. For other parameters can be left default.
Then we will create a new topic that we will send the information remotely. To configure the same menu select on the ' Rules ' tab and for example we will create the topic ' Info ' and ' Web Proxy ' which information we will send to rsyslog.
In this configuration we specify on the ' Topics ' parameter with the option we will want the information. Then in the ' Action ' parameter we specify with the pre-made action log in the remote tab.
Then we will create a new topic that we will send the information remotely. To configure the same menu select on the ' Rules ' tab and for example we will create the topic ' Info ' and ' Web Proxy ' which information we will send to rsyslog.
In this configuration we specify on the ' Topics ' parameter with the option we will want the information. Then in the ' Action ' parameter we specify with the pre-made action log in the remote tab.

If the above configuration is done we will do the configuration on rsyslog in linux. This configuration is done so that between mikrotik and rsyslog can integrate with each other. For configuration we do through Terminal Linux by editing the file:
$ Sudo nano /etc/rsyslog.conf
And later will appear as follows.
$ Sudo nano /etc/rsyslog.conf
And later will appear as follows.

The script we will edit is:
# Provides UDP syslog reception
# $ ModLoad imudp
# $ UDPServerRun 514
Then remove the sign ( # ) to,
# Provides UDP syslog reception
$ ModLoad imudp
$ UDPServerRun 514
And add also the file with the script:

: Fromhost-ip, isequal, "192.168.128.104" /var/log/mikrotik1.log
Next save the file we have edited above with Ctrl + O. Well, from this step the configuration of both is finished. To check the results can be done using linux terminal by typing command:
$ Tail -r /var/log/mikrotik1.log
Or through the SYSTEM LOG application.
